Addiction counsellor training Programme

Many individuals who complete treatment and embrace their recovery often feel called to chase a career as an addiction counsellor. It cannot be over looked that recovering addicts make the best addiction counsellors. As such Jahara has developed a programme to assist individuals to follow their dreams.

While training counsellors study through ACCSA, Jahara Treatment Centre provides the onsite practical training and experience. We do not take this programme lightly and there are some strict requirements to joining. The first requirement is that the students have a minimum of 1 year clean time before being considered as an applicant.

The program is 3 years in duration gaining the individual 6,000 practical hours of supervised experience. All training counsellors are guided and mentored by the accredited staff and social workers and are exposed to all aspects of addiction treatment and centre management.

Students are required to pay for their first two years of studies and board and lodging and can volunteer for their final year before becoming accredited as an addiction counsellor with the possibility of continuing as an accredited counsellor at the centre.

There is no better way of becoming an addiction counsellor than by getting hands on practical and guided experience.
